A new book has been released “Untapped Riches” by Susan and Anthony Cutaia that is not your average “how to” book on mortgages. Instead of making extra principal payments and paying off your home, the book suggests that you never pay off your mortgage and build wealth instead. Contrary to what most mortgage advisers suggest, the Cutaias are big advocates of using the leverage of borrowing and periodic refinancing to use tax-free cash to acquire more properties. Other chapters embrace other thoughts not commonly embraced. We are no longer a part of the “mortgage burning” generation, but just the same not everyone is savvy enough to get or do the concepts in this book. Please don’t take my last sentence as not supporting the ideas in the book. Follow them and you will get rich, not just have a paid off house. Multiply your equity by investing those extra payments. Your going to need more than social secuity when you retire.
