CT. Lawyer suspended in a mater related to MLN
A veteran New Haven, Conn., lawyer has been suspended from the practice of law for six months for his role in a real estate transaction that may be a blatant case of mortgage fraud.  Morris I. Olmer has been accused of misrepresenting the sales price of a West Haven, CT. home he handled the closing on.
The quick story is:
Olmer signed off on a HUD-1 settlement agreement that stated the sale price of the property as $505,000 and that the purchaser, Thomas Gallagher, obtained a $378,750 loan from Mortgage Lenders Network USA Inc. of Middletown, But on the warranty deed, which Olmer signed on July 28, 2006, showed a sale price recorded as $285,000.
