They are being issued based on the last 2 numbers of your income tax returns primary social security number starting by direct deposit on May 2nd, and by mail (paper check) on May 16th. On the IRS web site you can check the chart to see when your check will be mailed. Remember it will be at least 6 weeks after your return was processed (even if that is after when you should be mailed based on your social security number)
Remember don’t fall victim to any Phishing scams related to your stimulus check. As the IRS web site says, they do not initiate emails. So you are not getting that email from the IRS.
