Foreclosure Rescue Scams
Like kicking someone when they are already down, trying to scam someone who is facing foreclosure is just wrong. The possibility of losing your home to foreclosure is terrifying enough, and having some fraudster there to try and take your home is worse. Many of these so-called foreclosure rescue companies may claim they can help you save your home, and some may even offer money back guarantees to win your “business”. Crooked foreclosure “rescue” professionals will tell you anything you need to hear, true or not to get your house. Some may have you pay your mortgage payment to them, yet when you are already behind on your mortgage company fail to forward those payments to your mortgage company. Leaving you further behind on your mortgage. Some may take possession of your home claiming they will sell it back to you once you are back on your feet. If they don’t just sell your house away from you while you are still living there for a quick buck or two, they sell it back to you at some sky high price stripping your hard earned equity in the process. You ended up losing your house when you thought you were keeping it.
If you are approached by a foreclosure rescue company, no matter what they may claim to call themselves, do two things. Visit the FTC website and read about how to protect yourself, then get yourself a lawyer. A lawyer who is skilled in foreclosure prevention, and is not recommended by the alleged rescue company. If you are in Connecticut, I recommend that you get in touch with Greg Arcaro. Facing foreclosure is not a time to hide not matter how much you want to, no matter how much it hurts your pride or anything thing else for that matter.
